What does Bitumen 60/70 mean?

The penetration test measures how far a standard needle penetrates the bitumen under specific conditions (usually at 25°C, with a 100g load for 5 seconds).A 60/70 grade means the needle penetrates between 60 to 70 tenths of a millimeter (i.e., 6.0 to 7.0 mm).This indicates a medium hardness bitumen—soft enough to be workable but hard enough to resist deformation.
